Die Cellisten des Mozarteum Salzburg are a group of young but already established musicians who are students at the prestigious university in Salzburg. They are led and conducted by Giovanni Gnocchi, an internationally renowned solo cellist who has taught at Mozarteum University since 2013. Over the years, the individual members have been in the spotlight in top international competitions and played with acclaimed orchestras and famous soloists.
As a group of cellists, they have performed in numerous concerts, presenting a varied and totally unique repertoire that combines refined rarities with some of the most popular pieces from the First Viennese School. On the pastures around Malga Canvere in Val di Fiemme, looking out at the peaks of the Pale di San Martino and Paneveggio forest, Die Cellisten des Mozarteum will take the audience on a musical journey that will begin with old works by Carlo Gesualdo da Venosa and John Dowland, then move forward through various musical eras and conclude with contemporary pieces by Astor Piazzolla and Krzysztof Penderecki.
