Mario Brunello is a well-known Italian cellist and conductor.
Brunello achieved international fame in 1986, when he won the prestigious Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, an achievement that propelled him onto the world music scene. Since then, he has played with some of the world’s leading orchestras, including the London Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
Mario Brunello plays a 17th century Maggini cello, known for its rich and powerful sound. In addition to his concert activities, he is also involved in teaching and promoting musical culture.
Artistic director of I Suoni delle Dolomiti, he has been its precious soul since 1995.
